North Yorkshire Extensive Urban Survey
April 2011 | North Yorkshire County Council
On behalf of North Yorkshire County Council, PJO Archaeology has prepared a project design for submission to English Heritage in respect of an Extensive Urban Survey (EUS) for North Yorkshire. This will create a data base of digital maps and supporting text on the archaeology and historic landscape of 24 towns in the county. The EUS will be integrated with the County's Historic Environment Record and Historic Landscape Characterisation Programme. Similar surveys, sponsored by English Heritage, have been undertaken in many counties in England and play a major part in improving the operation of government policy as laid down in Planning Policy Statement 5.
