Cabot Circus, Bristol

PJO Archaeology is consultant for the Bristol Alliance who are developing a site over 12ha in extent on the east side of Bristol city centre. Excavations by Oxford Archaeology and CAPCA, a consortium of Cotswold Archaeology and Pre-Construct Archaeology have revealed remains of the medieval Dominican Friary, medieval properties on the banks of the Upper Frome containing remains of timber and stone structures, and evidence for the expansion of Bristol in the 17th - 18th centuries when the city grew rich on transatlantic trade.
